My name is Masoud Ahmadnia. I was born and brough up in Iran. I got my first MSc degree in Mechanical engineering-subdivision of manufacturing- from Khajeh-Nasir university of technology, Iran and I was involved in a research group on Friction Stir Welding process. Due to my interest in materials science aspect of manufacturing, I decided to do my second master’s degree at Chalmers university in Sweden. Meanwhile, I won the Swedish Institute Study Scholarship which provided me an opportunity to learn more about sustainable development in industry. Then, I was interested in AM processes and the flexibility and sustainability which this new method of manufacturing provides and hence as my master’s thesis, I worked on Selective Laser Melting of H13 tool steel. Right now, I am developing my PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering in Additive Manufacturing Group (AMG) at McMaster university under the direction of Professor Elbestawi. I’m studying the properties of soft magnetic materials and I’m conducting research on SLM of soft magnetic materials and the resultant mechanical and magnetic properties; aimed to be developed and used as the core of electric motors.
